A. 
The Police Department of the Borough of Gibbsboro may consist of a Chief of Police, a Captain, Lieutenants, Sergeants and such other police officers and investigators as may from time to time be deemed necessary by the Mayor and Council to properly preserve the peace and good order of the Borough.
B.

The Chief of Police is responsible for the general direction, control and supervision of the Police Department as authorized and provided for by statute, ordinance and this chapter. The office of the Chief shall also be responsible for providing maintenance and procedures for police vehicles.
The Investigation Division is responsible for the following functions:
A. 
Follow-up investigations of serious crimes, vice crimes and fatal motor vehicle accidents.
B. 
Preparation of cases for prosecution.
C. 
Recovery of stolen property.
D. 
Performance of all identification functions.
E. 
Prevention and control of juvenile delinquency.
F. 
Processing of juvenile offenders.
G. 
Maintaining liaison with the juvenile courts and school systems.
H. 
Control of evidence.
The Services and Patrol Division is responsible for the following functions:
A. 
Processing, indexing and filing of all reports and case files and providing miscellaneous record services to the public and the Department.
B. 
Reception of all complaints, reports of crime and requests for police services from the public and dispatching of personnel to investigate these cases.
C. 
Operation of all radio and communications equipment.
D. 
Arranging for basic, in-service and specialized training for Department personnel and maintaining training records.
E. 
Providing maintenance programs and procedures for communications and other equipment.

F. 
Assignment, control and supervision of special policemen and school crossing guards.
G. 
Preventive patrol activities.
H. 
Protection of life and property, preservation of the peace, enforcement of the law and suppression of crime.
I. 
Investigation of police incidents and minor crimes and preliminary investigation of serious crimes.
J. 
Traffic law enforcement, traffic control and traffic accident investigation.
Duties and responsibilities are not limited to those listed herein. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary to accomplish the objectives of the Department.
