[HISTORY: Adopted by the Governing Body of the Town/Village of East Rochester 3-8-1999 by L.L. No. 1-1999; amended in its entirety at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I). Subsequent amendments noted where applicable.]
Owners shall maintain address numbers on all buildings. The numbers on each building shall be the numbers assigned by the Building Inspector. Before a new building is completed, the owner shall obtain the assignment of numbers from the Building Inspector and shall place such numbers on such buildings. All other numbers shall be removed.
The numbers shall be so placed as to be in plain view from the sidewalk, and the figures shall not be less than four inches in height, with a minimum stroke width of 0.5 inch, and of proper proportion. Said figures shall be Arabic numerals. The figures shall be black on a white background or similar contrasting colors. Numbers which are not equally as legible as the above shall be changed to comply with these provisions.
In case the owner of property does not place said numbers and remove all other numbers within five days after service of notice to do so, the Building Inspector is hereby directed to do so and to charge therefor a fee as set from time to time by resolution of the Board of Trustees for placing each number and a fee as set from time to time by resolution of the Board of Trustees for removing each number, which sums shall be collected from the owner in the manner prescribed by law.
