The Mayor and Council of the Town of Rock Hall hereby certifies and declares that it will provide a drug-free workplace for all town employees.
The unlawful manufacture, distribution, possession or use of a controlled substance is prohibited in the town's workplace, and any violation of this prohibition will result in an appropriate personnel action against such an employee, up to and including termination or requiring such an employee to participate satisfactorily in a drug-abuse assistance or rehabilitation program approved for such purposes by a federal, state or local health, law enforcement or other appropriate agency.
Each employee will receive a copy of this policy, and, as a condition of employment, the employee will:
A. 
Abide by the terms of the policy.
B. 
Notify the employer, in writing, of any criminal drug statute conviction for a violation occurring in the workplace no later than five calendar days after such conviction.
It is the town's intent to establish an ongoing drug-free awareness program to keep employees informed about:
A. 
The dangers of drug abuse in the workplace.
B. 
The town's policy of maintaining a drug-free workplace.
C. 
Any available drug counseling, rehabilitation and employee assistance programs.
D. 
The penalties that may be imposed upon employees for drug-abuse violations occurring in the workplace.
