Editor's Note: The preamble to this resolution read as follows:
"WHEREAS, the environment, with all of its related problems, is becoming of great concern to all citizens; and
"WHEREAS, no convenient method now exists for the public to secure information relating to matters of the environment or to point out specific violations of Federal, State and Local regulations;
"NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF WICOMICO COUNTY, MARYLAND, IN EXECUTIVE SESSION, that..."
The Wicomico County Commission on the Environment is hereby created. The same shall be composed of nine members, appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council for terms of three years, three of whom shall be appointed for initial one-year terms; three of whom shall be appointed for initial two-year terms; and the remaining three initially appointed for three-year terms. A Chairman shall be selected by the County Executive.
It shall be the responsibility of this Commission to advise the County Council and County Executive on all matters with regard to environment, to accept and investigate any and all complaints from the citizens of the county regarding the environment and to forward the same to the appropriate governmental agency for the most expeditious handling.
