The position of Designated Defense Counsel for the Police Department is hereby created.
The Designated Defense Counsel for the Police Department shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council for a term of one year.
The Designated Defense Counsel for the Police Department shall defend any member or officer of the Police Department of the Borough of Haledon as provided by N.J.S.A. 40A:14-155 and any successor statutes or amendments thereto.
The Designated Defense Counsel for the Police Department shall receive no salary or stipend; however, said Designated Defense Counsel for the Police Department may charge the Borough at an established hourly rate not to exceed $150 per hour, a maximum not to exceed a fee of $2,500 for each defense matter and reimbursement for disbursements in the defense of members or officers of the Police Department of the Borough of Haledon.
