[HISTORY: Adopted by the Borough Council of the Borough of Haledon 3-12-1980 by Ord. No. 2-13-80 (Ch. 141 of the 1984 Code). Amendments noted where applicable.]
No person shall detain or fail to return any book, periodical, pamphlet, artistic reproduction, phonograph recording, audiovisual material or any other article borrowed from the Haledon Public Library after 30 days have elapsed from the date of posting by certified mail, return receipt requested, of a notice demanding return thereof, addressed to said person at the last address furnished to the library.
No person shall cut, tear, deface, disfigure, damage or destroy any book, periodical, pamphlet, artistic reproduction, phonograph recording, audiovisual material or other article, or any part thereof, which is borrowed from, owned by or is in the custody of the Haledon Public Library.
No person shall register or furnish a false name or address or use without the owner's permission any card other than the one issued to said person for the purpose of borrowing any book, periodical, pamphlet, phonograph recording, audiovisual material or other articles from the Haledon Public Library.
No person shall take any book or property from the Haledon Public Library without having it charged to his borrower's card.
The provisions of this chapter shall be enforced by the Director of the Haledon Public Library or such other person as may, from time to time, be designated by the Board of Trustees of the Haledon Public Library.
Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not to exceed $300 for each offense or, in the case of a violation of § 225-1, 225-2 or 225-3 of this chapter, for each article detained or damaged. Continued failure to return any such article detained or to pay the Haledon Public Library the replacement cost thereof or of any article damaged, for a period of 30 days after conviction of a violation of § 225-1, 225-2 or 225-3 of this chapter, shall constitute a separate offense under this chapter.
