The position of Electrical Inspector for the Township of Hamilton is hereby established.
The qualifications for the position of Electrical Inspector shall be as set forth in the Uniform Construction Code, specifically N.J.S.A. 52:27D-126 and the regulations promulgated thereunder (N.J.A.C. 5:23-5.7).
The Electrical Inspector shall be appointed by the Township Committee of the Township of Hamilton. The appointment shall be for a period of four years pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:27D-126.
The duties of the Electrical Inspector shall be to make inspections of new and existing wires, conduits, apparatus, fixtures and other appliances and electrical installations in residences, business establishments, public and other buildings to ensure conformance with safety standards, including conformance with all applicable statutes, codes and regulations; to check plans and specifications for electrical projects to ensure that the work complies with all applicable laws and regulations; to issue permits for approved plans and specifications; to investigate electrical installations for evidence of tampering or other illegal practices; to perform all duties required under the Uniform Construction Code N.J.A.C. 5:23-3.16; and to perform all related work to the position of Electrical Inspector as may be required by the Township Committee.
The annual salary for the position of Electrical Inspector shall be determined annually by the Township Committee of the Township of Hamilton and shall be paid in accordance with the provisions of the Annual Salary and Wage Ordinance of said township.[1]
