There is hereby established in the Township of Jefferson a Senior Citizen Advisory Board consisting of 13 members. The membership shall consist of seven senior citizen members being of the age of 55 or older, two non-senior-citizen members, one member of the Council, the Mayor, the Township Administrator, and one alternate who shall be a Council member. The Council members shall serve for one year as appointed by the Council, and the Mayor and Administrator shall serve during their terms. The citizen members shall be appointed by the Council. The initial appointment of the citizen members shall be four citizen members for one year, whose terms shall expire December 31, 2003, and five citizen members for two years, whose terms shall expire December 31, 2004. Thereafter, the terms of the citizen members shall be for two years each.
The purpose of the Senior Citizen Advisory Board shall be to advise the Council and Administration on issues affecting the senior citizens of the Township of Jefferson and particularly affecting the health of the senior citizens of the Township, their financial well-being, housing and recreational facilities for the senior citizens.
Meetings shall be held as needed and may be called by the Chairperson, the Mayor or as may be directed by the Township Council. Meetings shall be on public notice, and the Board shall provide quarterly reports to the Mayor and Council.
