There is hereby established a Senior Citizens
Advisory Board.
A.
The Senior Citizens Advisory Board shall consist of
10 regular voting members and up to five alternate voting members
appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Township
Committee. All members shall be residents of the Township of Little
Egg Harbor and shall be at least 55 years of age, with the exception
of the Committee Liaison. The terms of all regular voting members
of the Senior Citizens Advisory Board shall be for a term of three
years, commencing on January 1 of the year of appointment, with the
exception of the initial members, whose terms shall be as follows:
three members shall be appointed initially for one-year terms, three
members shall be appointed initially for two-year terms, and four
members shall be appointed initially for three-year terms. The terms
of the alternate voting members shall be for one year.

B.
In addition to the 10 regular voting members and the
alternate voting members, which may number up to five, there shall
be up to three nonvoting ex officio members representing senior citizen
service agencies who shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice
and consent of the Township Committee. The terms of the ex officio
members shall be for one year.

C.
The Senior Citizens Advisory Board shall annually
elect from its membership a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, and a Secretary.
The Committee liaison shall not be eligible to serve in any of those
offices or positions.

A.
Senior Citizens Advisory Board shall meet at least
quarterly. Nothing shall preclude the Board from meeting more frequently
if deemed necessary.
B.
Duties and responsibilities. The Senior Citizens Advisory
Board shall be responsible for advising the Mayor and Township Committee
on matters impacting senior citizens in the Township, including but
not limited to the areas of medical and social services, nutrition
programs, transportation, recreation, employment opportunities, taxation
and housing. The Senior Citizens Advisory Board shall also be responsible
for sponsoring and scheduling educational programs, in conjunction
with the Recreation Director, for senior citizens on topics of interest
in the Township Community Centers. The Board shall also be responsible
for coordinating senior citizen programs and interacting with the
other senior citizen organizations in the Township, such as the AARP
and "Old Guard," and the Ocean County Office of Senior Citizens.
The Mayor shall annually appoint a member of
the governing body to serve as voting/liaison member of the Senior
Citizens Advisory Board. The liaison shall report to the governing
body and the public on a monthly basis by Committee report to advise
on activities and recommendations of the Senior Citizens Advisory
Board.
