It is hereby found and declared that instances have been reported in other municipalities of death due to suffocation of children in abandoned unattended ice boxes, refrigerators and other containers having airtight doors which when closed cannot be opened from the inside; and that such abandoned, unattended or discarded iceboxes, refrigerators and other containers are a constant menace to the health, welfare and safety of children in the Township.
No person shall leave outside of any building or dwelling, in a place accessible to children any unattended, abandoned or discarded icebox, refrigerator or any similar container which:
A. 
Has an airtight door or lock which cannot be released for opening from the inside of said icebox, refrigerator or container; or
B. 
Has an airtight door, snap-lock or other device thereon, without first removing such door, snap-lock or other device from said icebox, refrigerator or container.
Unless another penalty is expressly provided herein, any person who violates any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punished by a fine not exceeding $500, or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 90 days, or both. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues.
