The Recreation Commission of the Borough of Longport is hereby created.
The Recreation Commission shall consist of three members appointed by
the Board of Commissioners of the Borough of Longport and shall hold office
for such period of time and receive such compensation as may be prescribed
by the Board of Commissioners.
A.
The powers of The Recreation Commission shall include
the following:
(1)
Purchase or otherwise acquire, in its own name, such
lands, either improved or unimproved, in fee or otherwise, as may be necessary.
(2)
Improve or cause such lands to be improved.
(3)
Lay out or cause to be laid out all necessary roads,
paths, tracts and boulevards.
(4)
Construct or cause to be constructed on the lands so
acquired such buildings or other structures as may be deemed necessary to
enable the Commission to properly and adequately arrange and provide for the
giving of the aforesaid divertissements.
(5)
Improve, maintain and police the same.
B.
The Recreation Commission may, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:61-20,
borrow money and incur other indebtedness and issue its bonds for the purpose
of carrying out the objects of the creation of the Recreation Commission.
C.
The Recreation Commission may lease, let, rent or hire
to any person the lands and buildings, or any part thereof, acquired by it,
together with the privilege of using the same for the giving of indoor and
outdoor exhibitions, games, contests and sporting events, for such periods
of time, and upon such terms and conditions, as the Commission may prescribe.
D.
The Commission may make all the necessary rules for its
regulation and to generally supervise and control all activities sponsored
or arranged and provided for by it.
E.
Two Commissioners shall constitute a quorum and may do
all necessary and proper acts with the same force and effect as if the entire
Commission so acted.
F.
Do any and all other things and acts not prohibited by
law and also as may be permitted by enabling legislation and N.J.S.A. 40:61-17
et seq., as amended from time to time.
