There shall be a Deputy Borough Clerk of the Borough of Middlesex appointed by the Council to serve for a term which coincides with the term of the Borough Clerk, or such other term as may be designated by Council or law.
The duties of the Deputy Borough Clerk shall be as follows:
A. 
To assist the Borough Clerk in the performance of his duties as the Council may from time to time prescribe.
B. 
Whenever the office of the Borough Clerk shall be vacant or unfilled, or the Borough Clerk shall be absent from the Borough or unable to serve by reason of disability or otherwise, the Deputy Clerk shall have all the powers and perform all the duties vested in the Borough Clerk.
The Deputy Borough Clerk shall receive such compensation as shall be established by resolution or ordinance.
