There is hereby created the position of Chief Radio Communications Officer for the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights.
The Chief Radio Communications Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Council, and shall serve for a term of one year or until his or her successor is appointed.
The Chief Radio Communications Officer shall at all times be a resident of the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights and must be a current, active member in the Associated Public Safety Communications Officers, Inc.
The Chief Radio Communications Officer shall serve without compensation or other benefits for the duties performed by him hereunder.
The Chief Radio Communications Officer shall perform the following duties or functions:
A. 
Complete, sign and submit on behalf of the Borough all frequency coordination forms and Federal Communications Commission license applications or renewals to the State Police Frequency Coordination Unit and to the Federal Communications Commission.
B. 
Coordinate all licensing/frequency coordination and frequency assignments for all Borough departments in order to effectively utilize all licensed frequencies on an interdepartmental basis.
C. 
Assist all department heads in the preparation of letters of authorization to allied agencies and their units for operation on any Borough frequency.
D. 
Operate mobile or hand-held portable radios on all duly licensed Borough radio frequencies for both emergency and administrative usage.
E. 
Report to the appropriate department head any and all infractions of Federal Communications Commission rules and regulations or of any Borough radio communication rules committed by Borough officers or employees.
F. 
Prepare and establish rules and regulations concerning the operation of radio communications equipment by Borough employees and officers.
G. 
Review and recommend specifications for the purchase of radio equipment by any Borough department as requested.
H. 
Act as consultant to the Borough with any and all contractors utilized for radio repair or installation of Borough radio equipment.
