This bylaw shall be known and cited as the "Zoning
Bylaw of the Town of North Reading, Massachusetts," and is hereinafter
referred to as the "Zoning Bylaw."
The purpose of this Zoning Bylaw shall be to
promote the health, safety, convenience and general welfare of the
inhabitants of North Reading; to lessen congestion in the streets;
to conserve health; to secure safety from fire, flood, panic and other
dangers; to provide adequate light and air; to prevent overcrowding
of land, to avoid undue concentration of population; to facilitate
the adequate provisions of transportation, water, water supply, drainage,
sewerage, schools, parks, open space and other public requirements;
to conserve the value of land and buildings, including the conservation
of natural resources and the prevention of blight and pollution of
the environment; to encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout
the Town; and to preserve and increase amenities within the Town of
North Reading.
This Zoning Bylaw is adopted pursuant to the
authority granted by Chapter 40A of the General Laws of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts, as amended, hereinafter referred to as the Zoning
Act and to accept the provisions of Chapter 808 of the Acts of 1975.
