The requirements of the State Uniform Construction Code shall apply to new construction, and said requirements shall be enforced by the Fire Subcode Official.

Upon the sale or rental of residential dwellings, an inspection shall be conducted by the Fire Official for approval of smoke detection alarms pursuant to the Uniform Fire Code.
The required smoke detection alarms shall be located and shall be of a type set forth in N.J.A.C. 5:18 Appendix 3A, incorporated herein by reference, and maintained in working order.
