No unauthorized person shall maliciously, willfully
or negligently break, damage, destroy, uncover, deface or tamper with
any structure, appurtenance or equipment which is a part of the sewage
works. Any person violating this provision shall be subject to immediate
arrest under a charge of disorderly conduct.
Before the Town issues a permit for construction
of a building sewer, sewer extension or private sewage disposal, a
contractor must present a certificate of insurance showing suitable
liability insurance of not less than $100,000 per personal injury,
property damage or per occurrence.
Any person discharging industrial waste shall
notify the Superintendent immediately upon accidentally discharging
wastes in violation of this chapter. This notification shall be followed,
within 157 days of the date of occurrence, by a detailed written statement
describing the cause of the accidental discharge and the measures
being taken to prevent future occurrences. Such notification will
not relieve liability for any expenses, loss or damage to the sewage
works or any fines imposed on the Town under applicable state and
federal regulations as to discharges of industrial waste. Persons
discharging industrial waste are to post a notice advising their employees
to call the Town office in case of an accidental discharge in violation
of this chapter for their information.
