There is hereby created and established an Intown
Revitalization Commission consisting of seven members and an unlimited
number of associate members. The Commission shall be constituted as
follows:
A. Two intown area business people.
B. One person experienced in finances.
D. One representative from the Fitchburg Planning Coordinator's
office.
E. Two citizens of the community at large.
Initially the Mayor shall appoint two members
for one year, two for two years and two for three years, and thereafter
each member shall be appointed for a two-year term. The representative
from the Council shall be appointed by the Council President upon
establishment of the Commission and annually thereafter at the time
of committee appointments. All appointments shall be approved by City
Council.

All members of the initial and subsequent Intown
Revitalization Commission will be named associate members. Associate
members will serve as an advisory subcommittee to the Commission for
the purpose of plan and policy review and comment. Associate members
shall not have any vote on Commission matters. The advisory subcommittee
shall meet at the call of the Commission Chair to review projects,
proposals and offer advice.
The purpose of the Commission shall include
the following:
A. To study the feasibility of implementation of the
concepts and recommendations presented in the Concept Plan;
B. To modify or revise these concepts and/or recommendations
if or as required after further study; and
C. To plan, coordinate and advance the revitalization
of the in town area.
Initial staffing for the Revitalization Commission
will be provided by the Fitchburg Planning Coordinator's office. Funding
for first-year projects will come from Community Development Act funds.
If and when additional funding is necessary, it will be requested
from the City and business community.
The Commission shall coordinate its efforts
with other groups and individuals concerned with intown revitalization
and shall develop a close working relationship with the Chamber of
Commerce and the Fitchburg Redevelopment Authority.
