A.
The DPW Director or his designee is hereby authorized,
and as to those signs and signals required hereunder it shall be his
duty, to place and maintain or cause to be placed and maintained all
official traffic signs, signals, marking and safety zones. All signs,
signals and safety zones shall conform to the standards prescribed
by the Department of Public Works of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
B.
Sections 170-6 and 170-7 of Article II and § 170-15 of Article IV, relating to parking, shall be effective as to any area in a street only during such times as official signs are erected and maintained in such area, located so as to be easily visible to approaching drivers and notifying them as to the governing provisions.
A.
No person or corporation shall place, maintain or
display upon or in view of any street any unofficial device, sign,
signal, curb marking or street marking which purports to be or is
an imitation of or resembles an official traffic device, sign, signal,
curb marking or street marking or which attempts to direct the movement
of traffic or which hides from view an official sign, signal, marking
or device. The Chief of Police is hereby empowered to remove without
notice every such prohibited sign, signal, marking or device.
B.
Obedience to traffic signs, signals and markings.
No driver of any vehicle shall disobey the instructions of any official
traffic control signal, sign, marking, marker or legend, unless so
directed by an officer.
C.
All information or warning signs, all traffic control
signals, traffic islands or other traffic devices, all pavement or
other markings shall be designed, located and operated in accordance
with the standards of the Massachusetts Highway Department for such
devices.

D.
The Franklin Police Department is the enforcement
agency for traffic regulations established in accordance with the
agreement and the traffic devices installed in connection therewith.

No person shall willfully deface, injure, move,
obstruct or interfere with any official traffic sign, signal or marking,
and any person so doing shall be liable to a penalty of $50 for each
and every offense.
The location of all bus stops and taxicab stands
shall be specified by the Town Council, and, in the case of taxicab
stands the Town Council shall designate who may use them as such.
