The Select Board is hereby authorized to sell at public auction to the highest bidder any of the property which the Town may have acquired or may hereafter acquire through proceedings based upon nonpayment of taxes or under proceedings for the sale of lands of low value, to impose upon the property so sold such restrictions, reservations or conditions as shall be deemed expedient, and to execute and deliver in the name and under the seal of the Town a deed without covenant or other instruments therefor. Any bid deemed inadequate may be rejected.
[Adopted 5-7-1975 ATM by Art. 49]
Prior to any sale as heretofore authorized, the Select Board shall give prior notice of the time and place of said sale, including a description of each parcel to be sold or a statement that (as shall be the fact) said description is available during business hours in the office of the Town Treasurer, to be examined and copied at the copier's expense. Said notice shall be by publication at least weekly for the three consecutive weeks ending at least seven days prior to the date on which the sale is to occur, in a newspaper of general circulation in the Town. The sale as so publicized may, after being convened, be adjourned to a later time or different place, or both, provided notice of said adjournment and the time and place of the reconvened sale are published in such a newspaper at least seven days prior to the date the sale reconvenes.
All by-laws or votes of the Town, or portions thereof, heretofore in force inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed.
