A. 
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to carry on the business of or to practice the craft of palmistry, fortune-telling, spiritualism, clairvoyance and phrenology or the like, within Dorchester County, State of Maryland, unless each and every such person or persons shall first obtain from the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Dorchester County, Maryland, a license or licenses to carry on such business or practice such craft in said county, for which they shall pay to the Clerk of said Court the sum of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.) for each year or a fraction thereof, for the use of the said Dorchester County and they shall pay to the Clerk of said Court a further sum of fifty cents ($0.50) as his fee for issuing same. The license is to be issued in the name of the person or persons applying, and to be issued to run from the first day of May of the year in which issued, to and including the 30th day of April in the succeeding year, provided that no license shall be issued to any person professing to be a "faith healer" or the like; and provided further, that this prohibition is not deemed to include Christian Science practitioners.
B. 
Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars ($100.) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.) for each and every offense, and if said fine and court costs are not paid, he shall be confined in the county jail for sixty (60) days or until such fine and court costs are paid, whichever occurs first.
