GENERAL REFERENCES
On streets and sidewalks — See Ch. 224.
No person or persons shall propel or ride any bicycle or any vehicle or propulsion, whether by electric, gasoline, foot power or otherwise, other than children's tricycles or velocipedes, along or upon any sidewalks in the village.
Any person or persons using a bicycle, tricycle or such other vehicle or propulsion as described in § 90-1 shall carry on such vehicle between 1/2 hour after sundown and 1/2 hour before sunrise a light of sufficient illuminating power to be visible at a distance of 100 feet on the front of the vehicle and a similar light of similar illuminating power visible at a distance of 100 feet at the rear thereof and also an alarm bell from which a signal shall be given by sounding said bell on approaching and crossing the intersection of any streets or highways and all other safety equipment required by the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

No person or persons shall propel or ride any such vehicle at a greater speed than 10 miles per hour, nor shall any greater number than two persons ride abreast, nor shall any person propel another who shall ride upon the handlebars or any part of the vehicle; nor under any circumstances shall more than one person ride said vehicle at one time unless the same be a tandem.
For persons less than 14 years of age, such person's parent or guardian shall be deemed responsible for any offenses under this section and may be issued an appearance ticket for the offense of the person less than 14 years of age.

It shall not be lawful to coast or to tie or fasten any handsled, sleigh, toy or small express wagon to any motor vehicle or horse-drawn vehicle with the purpose or intent to have any person ride on such handsled, sleigh, toy or express wagon (being an act commonly called "hitching") or to ride upon such sled, sleigh or wagon so tied or fastened in, upon or along any street, avenue, park, alley, highway or public ground in the village.
It shall be unlawful for any person within the village to solicit by word, sign or manner, commonly known as "hitchhiking," any ride or accommodation in any automobile or other vehicle upon the public streets of the village.[1]

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be liable to a penalty in accordance with Chapter 1, Article III, General Penalty.
