As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
MASTER ELECTRICIAN
A person, firm, association or corporation engaged by contract or otherwise in any other capacity, other than as employee, to a duly licensed master electrician, in the work of installing, setting up or putting together any electric wiring, device, material, apparatus, equipment or appliance for light, heat, power or sound.
No person shall undertake the work of a master electrician as above defined within the corporate limits of the Village unless such person shall be qualified as described in § 119-4, and shall obtain the necessary license as set forth in § 119-3.

Before undertaking the work of a master electrician in the Village, a person applying and qualified as set forth in § 119-4 shall obtain an annual license from the Village Clerk-Treasurer. There shall be an annual license fee due, which shall cease and terminate on the 31st day of May and shall be renewed annually thereafter within 30 days prior to the expiration date thereof. Said license fee shall be as set by the Board of Trustees by resolution of a majority vote of its members present at a Board meeting.[1]

A person shall not be eligible for the license herein set forth unless such person shall be a duly authorized and licensed master electrician duly authorized and licensed either by the Town of Hempstead, Town of North Hempstead, Town of Oyster Bay, County of Nassau, State of New York, pursuant to that portion of the building code of the Town of Hempstead, Town of North Hempstead and Town of Oyster Bay, County of Nassau, State of New York, known as "Part III Electrical, Electric Code."

A master electrician, licensed by the Village of Cedarhurst, who is permitted to do work within the Village, shall file an application with the Village for any and all work exceeding a cost of $500, to be done within the Village and shall pay such fee as set by the Board of Trustees by resolution of a majority vote of its members present at a Board meeting.[1]

No electrical work exceeding a value of $500 shall be done within the Village of Cedarhurst, except for an emergency, without the master electrician or homeowner first receiving a permit for said work. However, in an emergency situation work can be done and a permit must be obtained within 72 hours after work has commenced.
No oversight or dereliction of duty on the part of the Building Official shall legalize the erection, construction, alteration, removal, use or occupancy of a building or structure that does not conform to the provisions of this article.[1]
