Hawking and peddling through the streets, highways or public places of the Village, or from house-to-house within the Village, without an annual license, as herein provided, is hereby prohibited. Such license shall be issued by the Village Clerk-Treasurer upon approval by the Board of Trustees and shall continue in full force and effect, unless previously revoked for violation of this article or for other reasons deemed good and sufficient by the Board of Trustees, until May 31 following the date of its issuance.

The fee for each license shall be as set by the Board of Trustees by resolution of a majority vote of its members present at a Board meeting,[1] payable at the time of issuance of the license, and each such license shall cover and permit the use of one vehicle only. If any person shall operate in the village with more than one vehicle for any period of time whatsoever, a license shall be obtained for each vehicle.

Every license shall be visibly displayed upon such vehicle when operating within the village.

No person shall keep or maintain at any fixed point in the streets, highways or public places of the village any wagon, cart, automobile, vehicle or stand for the purpose of hawking and peddling therefrom. Peddling hours are 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hawking and peddling licenses shall not be valid in the commercial districts of the Village of Cedarhurst.
