A member of the Town of Cornwall Police Department found guilty of violating a rule or regulation of the Police Department or of the provisions of any order or orders, or of the disobedience of orders, or of cowardice, or of intoxication while on duty or while in uniform, or of conduct unbecoming an officer, or of making a false official communication, record or statement, or a member of the Police Department convicted in a court having criminal jurisdiction, may be dismissed from the Police Department or suffer such other punishment as the Town of Cornwall Board and the Chief of Police may direct.
Officers of the Town of Cornwall Police Department found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the Police Department may be subject to one of the following actions, as provided by § 155 of the Town Law:
A. 
Reprimand.
B. 
Fine.
C. 
Extra tours of duty.
D. 
Suspension, with or without pay.
E. 
Dismissal or removal from the Police Department.
Separation of a Police Department member by the Town of Cornwall Board is warranted for incompetent, inept or inefficient performance of duty. Repeated disciplinary actions even for minor infractions will be considered prima facie evidence of unsuitability for police service.
Disorder or neglect to the prejudice of good order, efficiency or discipline, though not specifically mentioned in the rules and regulations, shall be taken cognizance of by the Police Department, and members of the Police Department found guilty thereof will be punished at the discretion of the Town Board.
