[Adopted 2-1-1966 as Art. 16-5 of the 1966 Dobbs Ferry Village Code]
It shall be unlawful to use or permit the use of any building or premises or part thereof hereafter created, erected, changed, converted or enlarged, wholly or partly, in its use or structure, until a certificate of occupancy shall have been issued by the Building Inspector. Such certificate shall show that such building or premises or part thereof and the proposed use thereof are in conformity with the provisions of all applicable laws and ordinances.
A. 
It shall be the duty of the Building Inspector to issue a certificate of occupancy within 10 days after an application therefor shall have been filed in his office by the owner, after having determined that the building and the proposed use thereof conform to all of the requirements herein set forth. In the event that such building does not so conform, it shall be the duty of the Building Inspector, within the same ten-day period after the filing of such application, to refuse to issue such certificate and to notify the owner in writing of the reason therefor.
B. 
Temporary certificates of occupancy.

(1) 
The Building Inspector, in his discretion, may issue a temporary certificate of occupancy for a part of a building or premises on such terms and conditions and for such period of time as he shall determine, provided that the entire building or premises shall be made to conform to all of the provisions of all applicable laws and ordinances within the period of such temporary certificate.

C. 
Upon written request from the owner, the Building Inspector shall issue a certificate of occupancy for any building or premises existing at the time of the passage of this Code, certifying, after inspection, the extent and kind of use made of the building or premises, including the number of employees, and whether such use conforms to the provisions of this Code.

The fee for a certificate of occupancy shall be as set from time to time by the Board of Trustees.[1]
