[HISTORY: Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Dobbs Ferry 2-1-1966 as § 7-1-4 of the 1966 Dobbs Ferry Village Code. Amendments noted where applicable.]

No person, firm or corporation shall place or cause to be placed any garbage, rubbish or ashes upon or otherwise litter any public street, sidewalk or area in the village.

Any person, firm or corporation who violates any provision of this chapter shall be subject to a penalty as provided for in the Village of Dobbs Ferry Code § 1-12 and a civil penalty in an amount which shall not exceed $10,000 for each offense. The Village Attorney of the Village of Dobbs Ferry is hereby authorized to commence a proceeding to recover the civil penalty which monies shall include all cleanup costs incurred by the Village. A separate offense shall be deemed committed upon each day during which a violation occurs/remains without abatement or is committed. The penalties contained in this chapter shall be in addition to any other penalties or prohibitions provided by law. This section may be enforced by authorized employees of the Village, including, but not limited to, any police officer, member of the Building Department, member of the Recreation Department, member of the Department of Public Works and/or by the Village Attorney.
