No taxicab shall ply for hire upon the streets of the Village without first obtaining an annual license as provided in this article.
Applications for a license under this article shall be made by the owner upon blank forms to be furnished by the Village Clerk. Such application shall contain the full name and address of the owner, a description, including the state registration number and the motor number, of each vehicle and the number of persons it is capable of carrying.
The annual license fee for taxicabs under this article shall be the sum of $25 for the first car license and $10 for each additional car.
If upon inspection as provided in this chapter a taxicab is found and certified by the Mayor to be in proper condition and in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and the rules and regulations established under this chapter, then upon payment to the Village Clerk of the license fee set forth in this article, the taxicab shall be licensed in the manner prescribed by § 91 of the Village Law of the state.[1]

Editor's Note: Former § 91 of the Village Law was omitted when the Village Law was recodified in 1972. Note that Villages are authorized to regulate the registration and licensing of taxicabs under § 181 of the General Municipal Law.
A license shall be issued under this article as of March 1 and shall expire on the last day of February next succeeding, unless sooner suspended or revoked by the Village Board of Trustees.
Taxicab licenses granted under this article may be suspended by the Mayor until the next meeting of the Village Board of Trustees and may be revoked at any time by the Village Board of Trustees if the vehicle shall not be in good condition and appearance, clean and safe or if the owner or operator or driver thereof shall have violated any of the provisions of this chapter.
