A. 
Discharge within city prohibited. No person shall discharge any firearm, air-gun, spring gun or other similar instrument within the city except in self-defense or discharge of official duty.

B. 
Carrying of loaded weapon. No person shall carry any loaded firearm, air-gun, spring gun or other similar instrument or weapon upon any public street or place except in the discharge of official duty.

A violation of any of the provisions of this article shall be punishable by a fine not exceeding $250 or by imprisonment not exceeding 15 days, or by both said fine and imprisonment. Each day any such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate violation.

The City of Geneva, by its City Council in its proprietary capacity, declares that it is necessary for the security, safety, protection and well-being of its employees, its property and individuals present thereupon, to place restrictions on the bearing and possession of firearms and other dangerous weapons and instruments by individuals while entering into and being present in buildings owned, leased and operated by the City of Geneva.
This article prohibits any individual from bearing or having in his or her possession, either openly or concealed, any firearm, gun, explosive device or substance, lethal or debilitating chemical or gas, or any dangerous or deadly weapon or instrument of any description, including but not limited to a handgun, pistol, target pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, dangerous knife, dagger, dirk, razor, stiletto or imitation pistol, while entering into or while being present in any building owned, leased or operated by the City of Geneva.
This article shall not apply to any authorized peace officer or police officer, as defined in the New York State Criminal Procedure Law, or any other authorized official of the county, state or federal government, and Fire Department personnel who are permanent residents of a city-owned facility.
Failure to comply with this article shall be punishable by confinement in the Ontario County Jail for a term not to exceed three months and/or a fine not to exceed $500.
