The Town Board of the Town of Ghent shall have
the authority to appoint to any local office within the Town of Ghent
a person or persons residing outside of the Town of Ghent.
The provisions of this article supersede and
replace the provisions with respect to residency requirements for
the appointment of local officials as set forth in § 3 of
the Public Officers Law of the State of New York or any other statute
that is inconsistent with the provisions of this article.
