A.
The Director of Public Works is hereby authorized
and, as to those signs and signals required hereunder, it shall be
his duty to place and maintain or cause to be placed and maintained
all official traffic signs, signals, markings and safety zones. All
signs, signals, markings and safety zones shall conform to the standards
as prescribed by the Department of Public Works of the Commonwealth
of Massachusetts.
B.
Sections 192-3 and 192-4 of Article II and §§ 192-18 and 192-21 inclusive and §§ 192-24 and 192-25 of Article V relating to parking and § 192-61[1] of Article VIII concerning turning shall be effective only during such time as the provisions of such sections are met and the sign or signal is located so as to be easily visible to approaching drivers. Sufficient number of such signs must be provided so that a car cannot be parked in a limited or prohibited parking place without having the legend side of such a sign clearly setting forth the parking regulation visible from that location.

Sections relating to one-way streets shall be effective
only during such time as a sufficient number of official signs are
erected and maintained at the entrance and at each of the exits for
each one-way street so that at least one sign will be clearly visible
for a distance of at least 75 feet to drivers approaching such entrance
or exit.

It shall be unlawful for any person to place
or maintain or to display upon or in view of any street any unofficial
sign, signal or marking which purports to be or is an imitation of
or resembles an official traffic sign, signal or marking or which
attempts to direct the movement of traffic or which hides from view
any official sign or signal. The Chief of Police is hereby empowered
to remove every such prohibited sign, signal or marking or cause it
to be removed, without notice. Violation of this section is a civil
infraction with a maximum fine of $60.

Any person who willfully defaces, injures, moves,
obstructs or interferes with any official sign, signal or marking
has completed a civil infraction and shall be liable for a maximum
penalty not exceeding $60 for each and every offense of this section.

The location of all bus stops, taxicab stands
and service zones shall be specified by the Select Board, and in the
case of taxicab stands the Select Board shall designate who may use
them as such.

No driver of any vehicle shall disobey the instructions
of any official traffic control sign, signal, marking or legend unless
otherwise directed by a police officer. Violation of this section
is a civil infraction with a maximum fine of $60.
