Pursuant to § 24-a of the Town Law
of the State of New York, the term of office of Supervisor of the
Town of Deerpark, Orange County, New York, is extended from the current
two-year term to a four-year term. This article shall be submitted
to a mandatory referendum at the next general election held in the
Town after the adoption of this article by the Town Board.
The intent of this article is to extend the
term of the aforementioned elected official of the Town commencing
with the individual elected at the next general election after the
mandatory referendum. Therefore, the individual elected to the position
of Supervisor, after but not including the general election of 2002,
shall serve for a four-year term.
