[Adopted at time of adoption of Code (see Ch. 1, General Provisions, Art. I)]
A. 
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
PERSON
Any natural person, firm, corporation, association, club, partnership, society or any other form of association or organization.
SOUND-AMPLIFYING EQUIPMENT
Any machine or device for the amplification of the human voice, music or any other sound. “Sound-amplifying equipment,” as used herein, shall not be construed as including standard automobile radios when used and heard only by occupants of the vehicles in which installed nor warning devices on authorized emergency vehicles or horns or other warning devices on other vehicles used only for traffic safety purposes.
SOUND TRUCK
Any vehicle having mounted thereon or attached thereto any sound-amplifying equipment.
B. 
In this article, the singular shall include the plural, and the masculine shall include the feminine and the neuter.
A. 
No persons shall operate or cause to be operated any sound truck for any commercial purpose in the Borough of Carlisle with sound-amplifying equipment in operation.
B. 
No person shall operate or cause to be operated any sound-amplifying equipment for commercial purposes attached to the exterior of any building or located on any lot of ground within the Borough in such a manner as to be audible more than 50 feet from the premises owned or used by the person so operating such equipment; provided, however, that this section shall not forbid the use of sound-amplifying equipment at any athletic contest or at the Carlisle fairground nor shall it forbid the use of any equipment by any licensed auctioneer in the conduct of any public sale not exceeding three days in duration.
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction thereof, for each and every violation, be sentenced to pay a fine not in excess of $1,000 and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of any such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than 30 days. Each day's violation of any of the provisions of this article shall constitute a separate offense.
