No person or entity shall place, maintain, leave or permit to remain
on premises outdoors and accessible to children any unattended refrigerator
or electric freezer chest with attached lid or door which can be opened. It
shall not be a defense to this section that such unit was for sale by said
person or entity or was otherwise not discarded or abandoned.
Any person or entity violating the foregoing section of this chapter
shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of up to $1,000 and costs of
prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, not caused
by indigency, shall be sentenced to imprisonment of not more than 30 days.
Each day on which any such violation shall continue shall constitute a separate
violation.
