The increase in population and the density of residential occupancy of the land in the Township of Doylestown have, in the judgment of the Board of Supervisors, created a condition which makes the use of a high-powered rifle, air rifle, Flobert rifle or a 22-gauge rifle or a shotgun, pistol, revolver or pellet gun or the shooting of arrows from bows or crossbows dangerous to the person and property of residents of the Township.
Except as hereinafter provided, the firing or discharge of any shotgun, pistol, revolver or pellet gun or the shooting of arrows from bows or crossbows is hereby prohibited except when done by a landowner on his own land or by an occupant or tenant of said land or by an employee of said owner, occupant or tenant or by a member of the family of said owner, occupant or tenant or when done by a person who has obtained prior written permission of said owner, occupant or tenant. Any person who has obtained prior written permission of said owner, occupant or tenant shall display said written permission to anyone asking to see the same, provided that this chapter shall not prevent the shooting of rats, rodents, predators and other unprotected animals and birds by any shotgun, pistol, revolver or pellet gun or the shooting of arrows from bows or crossbows when done by a landowner on his own land or by an occupant or tenant of said land or by an employee of said owner, occupant or tenant or by a member of the family of said owner, occupant or tenant or when done by a person who has obtained prior written permission of said owner, occupant or tenant.
This chapter shall not deny to any person, association or corporation possessing a permit from the Pennsylvania Game Commission to operate a regulated shooting grounds any rights or privileges accorded to him or it by state law or to the members of any organization incorporated under the laws of this commonwealth engaged in target shooting.
Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punishable as provided in § 1-13 of Chapter 1, General Provisions.
