Except in necessary defense of person and property, and except any law enforcement officer when engaged in the discharge of his official duties, it shall be unlawful for any person to use, fire or discharge any gun, firearm, arrow, projectile or deadly weapon within or into or through a safety zone.
As used in this chapter, the term "safety zone" means the area within 150 yards around and that area which is below the highest point of any dwelling house, residence or other building or camp or structure adapted for overnight accommodations by human beings, whether or not occupied, or any barn, stable or other building used in connection therewith or any attached or detached playground of any school, nursery school or day care center.
Any person who shall violate any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $1,000, plus costs, and in default of payment of said fine and costs to imprisonment for a term not to exceed 30 days.
