The purpose of the Local Commercial District is to sustain and
promote commercial businesses along major transportation corridors
that are typically local in character. These businesses serve the
surrounding community and tend to be smaller and generate less traffic
than regional businesses. They may be stand-alone businesses, such
as car dealerships and restaurants, or groups of small businesses
occupying a strip center development. Because the Comprehensive Plan
does not envision expansion of large retail and other large-scale
business throughout these corridors, permitted uses are limited in
character, size and scale.
The bulk and area standards in the Local Commercial District are set forth in Article
II, Tables 3 and 4.
