It is the intent that no street or way through private property shall be accepted by the Town of Williamstown (from here on referred to as the "town") unless the same be previously constructed and completed in accordance with Chapter 170, Subdivision Rules and Regulations, and the specifications and details in this chapter known as "Road Construction Standards."
Unless otherwise specified, all the materials used and work to be done shall conform to the requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Works, Standard Specifications for Highways and Bridges, most recent edition, as amended, and hereinafter referred to as the "MDPW Standard Specifications," and to the special provisions included hereinafter. Appropriate illustrations are found in Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Works, Construction Standards, 1977, as amended.
Supplementing the aforesaid MDPW Standard Specifications, certain specifications or special provisions shall apply particularly to the work to be done hereunder. References in the following specifications, unless otherwise stated, are to the aforesaid MDPW Standard Specifications, amendments or addenda. These specifications and special provisions shall take precedence and shall govern when they are stricter.
To facilitate reference, each paragraph in these specifications, where appropriate, is noted with the paragraph number of the particular section, as contained in the MDPW Standard Specifications.
Whenever in the MDPW Standard Specifications, or other contractual documents, the following terms, or pronouns in place of them, are used, the intent and meaning shall be interpreted by substitution, as follows:
COMMONWEALTH
Town of Williamstown.
DEPARTMENT
Department of Public Works, Town of Williamstown.
ENGINEER
Director of Public Works, or his designee, Town of Williamstown.
As each construction operation is completed, it shall be approved by the appropriate town authority prior to starting work on the succeeding operation.
The developer shall have the original plans and profiles that were submitted to the Williamstown Department of Public Works (WDPW) and that are on file in the WDPW office, corrected and sealed by his engineer to show the actual as-built locations and grade of all utilities and roadway profiles. In addition, as-built plans shall be submitted in digital format, if available, for integration into the WDPW Digital Mapping System. Current digital requirements and formats should be obtained from the WDPW.
