A.
All offices and positions of the Town are divided
into the classified service and the exempt service.
B.
The exempt service shall include:

All elected officials, persons serving solely as members
of committees, and Council.
(2)
Volunteer personnel and personnel appointed to serve
without compensation.
(3)
Engineers, counsel, and other consultants rendering
professional service.
(4)
Such positions involving temporary or part-time employment
as may be placed in the exempt service by the Council.
C.
The classified service shall include all other positions
of the Town that are not specifically placed in the exempt service
by the provisions of this chapter. The classified service shall be
further divided into management personnel and other personnel.

of expertise and managerial professionalism are expected of management
personnel than of other personnel.

designated as management personnel shall be deemed "other personnel."
D.
Upon the effective date of this chapter, each person
whose work performance has been satisfactory and who then holds a
position included in the classified service shall:
(1)
Have permanent status if he has held his present position
for at least six months immediately preceding the effective date of
this chapter; or
E.
Each temporary
employee in the exempt service who shall have served six months on
a full-time basis shall be notified that he will either become part
of the classified service with permanent status or be continued on
a temporary basis.
