The Council reserves the right to designate
such space as it deems necessary for the use of taxicabs, loading
and unloading space, or bus stops, for such fee as established in
the currently effective Town of Milton Fee Schedule.
No driver of any vehicle, other than a bus or
taxi, shall stand or park such vehicle in an officially designated
bus or taxi stop, except that the driver of any vehicle may temporarily
stop therein while actually engaged in receiving or discharging passengers.
No vehicle shall be parked upon the main traveled
portion of any street, alley or thoroughfare within the Town for the
purpose of loading or unloading or for the purpose of taking on or
discharging passengers. Passengers shall only be taken on or discharged
at the curbline parked within the limits of the parking lane of any
such street.
No person shall throw or unload from any vehicle,
while it is in motion, any goods, merchandise or bundles of any kind.
A.
Only vehicles commonly known as "private passenger
cars" and which are designated primarily for the occupation of not
exceeding eight passengers shall be parked along any block of any
street or avenue within the business district of the Town which will
be from Strawberry Alley on Federal Street, north to Chandler Street
off of Union Street, except for the purpose of loading or unloading
or taking on or discharging passengers.
B.
In no event shall any bus, cab, truck, trailer, or
vehicle other than a private passenger car be parked in any one parking
space along any block north of Strawberry Alley on Federal Street
and or south of Chandler Street on Union Street for a longer, continuous
period of time than 1/2 hour.
Along either side of Union Street from Chandler
Street south to Strawberry Alley on Federal Street, trucks, trailers
or other vehicles used in the transportation of freight, merchandise
or cargo of any kind shall be loaded or unloaded between the hours
of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on any weekday only.
Any person violating any of the provisions of
this article shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction
thereof before a court of competent jurisdiction, shall be fined not
less than $25 nor more than $100 and shall pay the costs of prosecution.
