No public carriages, taxis, hacks and other vehicles of transportation for hire shall be parked, stopped or left standing on any of the streets of the Village of Liberty, except for the actually picking up or discharging of passengers or in conformance with traffic rules, unless such public carriages, taxis, hacks and other vehicles of transportation for hire are parked, stopped or left standing at designated taxi or cab stands. Cruising and stealing fares when the fare has called another cab company is prohibited.
Each taxi shall be clearly marked with the taxi company name on each front door or on a roof mounted sign.
All taxi companies shall keep a log on each vehicle reflecting the driver, date, time, number of passengers, point of pickup and destination and the fare charged. Each logbook shall be available to Village authorities upon request.

The Village Board of Trustees of the Village of Liberty shall regulate fares. Rates shall be set by resolution of the Village Board, based upon a joint petition of a majority of taxicab companies and the merit of the request, or upon initiative of the Village Board of Trustees.
All taxi service advertising by adhesive stickers is prohibited.

Each taxicab permit shall reflect the number of passengers authorized on the vehicle registration and auto insurance. Taxicabs carrying more passengers than authorized are in violation of this chapter.

The failure to comply with the provisions of this article shall be and constitute a violation thereof, and any person, association, partnership or entity violating any provision of this article shall forfeit and pay a penalty and a fine of no more than $250 for the first violation thereof and no more than $500 for each and every subsequent violation. Each day that the violation continues shall be deemed a separate violation. The court may, in addition to or in lieu of a penalty or fine, impose a temporary or permanent suspension of the taxicab permit for the taxicab involved in the violation.
