Editor's Note: This local law amended in its entirety
former Ch. 24, which consisted of the following: Art. I, Residency
for Town Attorney, adopted 2-3-1998 by L.L. No. 1-1998; Art. II, Residency
for Building Inspector, adopted 5-15-2001 by L.L. No. 6-2001; and
Art. III, Residency for Commissioner of Public Works, adopted 5-16-2005
by L.L. No. 3-2005.
The Town Board of the Town of Greece recognizes that New York State mandates residency requirements for those persons serving as officers of the Town. In order to permit the Town Board of the Town of Greece greater latitude in selecting the most qualified individuals to hold the appointed offices set forth in § 24-2 hereof, it is necessary that prospective applicants not be limited to residents of the Town of Greece; however, the prospective applicant shall reside within the limits of the County of Monroe, State of New York.
Town Law § 23 and Public Officers Law § 3
are hereby amended in their application to the Town of Greece as follows.
Any law, rule or regulation requiring a person to be a resident of
the Town of Greece in order to be chosen or perform his or her official
duties or functions shall not prevent a person from holding the following
offices, provided that such person resides in the County of Monroe,
State of New York:
