[Adopted 1-8-2008 by L.L. No. 1-2008]
The Village of Rye Brook was given permission by the state to adopt a local law to change the terms of office of the Mayor and Trustees from two years to three years pursuant to Bill No. A. 1219 and Bill No. S. 4092, adopted by the Assembly on May 14, 2007, and the Senate on June 6, 2007, respectively, copies of which are annexed to this article;[1] and signed by the Governor on August 1, 2007.

The terms of office for the Mayor and all of the Trustees of the Village of Rye Brook shall be three years.
This article is being enacted pursuant to the authority granted to the Village by the state as well as Municipal Home Rule Law § 10 and supersedes Village Law § 3-302(5).
This article is subject to a mandatory referendum pursuant to Municipal Home Rule Law § 23, Subdivision 2(e).
This article shall become effective after the mandatory referendum has occurred and if approval is received.[1]
