Any violation of this chapter shall be deemed
as an offense against this chapter, and every conviction of a violation
of any provision of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of
not more than $250. or by imprisonment of not more than 15 days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment. For the purpose of conferring
jurisdiction upon courts and judicial officers generally, violations
of this chapter shall be deemed misdemeanors, and, for such purpose
only, all provisions of law relating to misdemeanors shall apply to
such violation.
In addition, a penalty may be assessed, not
exceeding $500 for each violation, to be sued for and recovered in
a civil action brought in the name and for the benefit of the sewer
district within the Town of North Greenbush where the violation occurred.
The Town Sewer Inspector and/or Deputy Sewer
Inspector and such other Town officers as the Town Board shall direct
are authorized to issue appearance tickets and to initiate whatever
appropriate judicial proceedings are deemed necessary to prohibit
violations of this chapter.
