The purpose and intent of this article is to protect the residents of the Village of Port Chester from the nuisance of farm animals or fowl which is not in keeping with urban life.
No person shall keep, harbor or shelter any farm animal or fowl within the Village of Port Chester. For the purposes of this article, farm animals or fowl shall include horses, cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, roosters, geese, ducks or pigeons. This prohibition shall not apply to common household pets such as cats and dogs.
Any provisions of the Village Charter and/or Code that are inconsistent herewith are hereby repealed and without further effect.
Any person violating the provisions of this article shall, upon conviction, be subject to punishment with a maximum fine of $250 or by imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or both.
