Editor's Note: The introduction to these standards read as follows:
"The purpose of these specifications and regulations is to establish
minimum acceptable uniform standards for street and highway construction,
including but not limited to such items as street and highway classification,
geometrics, design, drainage, construction requirements for road
base and pavement, curbs and sidewalks, monuments and signs.
"These specifications, along with referenced New York State Department
of Transportation Standard Specifications, should govern most situations or
conditions encountered with respect to street and highway planning and construction.
Interpretation of these specifications is the sole responsibility of the Town
Highway Superintendent, the designated Town Engineer and, when applicable,
the Town Planning Board, with specific approval required from these persons
for any deviations in procedures and materials mentioned in these specifications.
"Application of these specifications to recognized engineering principles
and acceptable construction practices should provide a basis for efficient
and orderly growth in the Town street and highway system and for the satisfactory
provision of access within subdivisions within the Town of Rhinebeck."
