Town of Guilderland, NY Article IV Safety in the Workplace Policy

§ 77-37 Purpose.

The personal safety and welfare of the town's employees, as well as the general public, is a primary and continuing concern of the Town of Guilderland. It is the town's goal to provide every employee a place of employment free from recognized hazards which are a potential cause for serious physical harm or health impairment.

§ 77-38 Responsibilities of management.

To accomplish this goal, management will:

A. Implement accident prevention programs, systems and techniques, where appropriate.

B. Provide a work environment where identified occupational hazards are controlled when elimination is not feasible.

C. Cooperate with government and labor to enhance employee safety and health.

§ 77-39 Responsibilities of department heads, supervisors and foremen.

Department heads, supervisors and foremen will:

A. Be responsible and accountable for employee protection and performance.

B. Institute work practices which reflect safe and efficient methods for accomplishing the required tasks.

C. Educate and train employees regarding job hazards.

§ 77-40 Responsibilities of employees.

All employees will:

A. Be expected to perform their jobs in the safest and healthiest manner prescribed.

B. Be expected to conduct themselves in a way that enhances their personal safety and that of their fellow employees.

C. Be encouraged to cooperate and contribute toward the overall success of the safety program.
