A. 
The Mayor of the Village of Lawrence is hereby granted the authority to declare a snow emergency within the Village of Lawrence upon all or any one or more streets, highways, roads, culs-de-sac and parking fields, or any part thereof, named in such declaration and to declare the termination thereof. Such declaration shall be made when the Mayor, in his judgment, based upon existing snowfall accumulation and road conditions, determines the need for such emergency status.
B. 
The Mayor may terminate the snow emergency when, in his judgment, there is no further need for such emergency status.
A. 
Due notice of a declaration of snow emergency and due notice of its termination shall be given to the public by the posting of notices at the Village Hall, the Park House and five other conspicuous places within the Village.

The snow emergency will be effective within five hours after the posting of such notice and will terminate upon the posting of notice of termination of the snow emergency.
It shall be unlawful for an owner of a vehicle to park or to permit his vehicle to be parked on any street, highway, road, cul-de-sac or parking field, or any part thereof, named in the declaration of snow emergency during such snow emergency until the termination thereof pursuant to the provisions of this chapter.

Any person committing an offense against any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be guilty of a violation pursuant to the Penal Law of the State of New York, punishable by a fine up to a maximum of $1,000 or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. The continuation of an offense against the provisions of this chapter shall constitute, for each day the offense is continued, a separate and distinct offense hereunder.
