It is the purpose of this article to change the term of office of the Town Clerk, thereby superseding the provisions of § 24 of the Town Law.
This article is enacted pursuant to the provisions of § 10 of the Municipal Home Rule Law.
The term of office of the elective Town Clerk of the Town of Lewisboro shall be four years. Such four-year term shall commence on the first day of January following the first biennial Town election after the effective date of this article.
At the biennial Town election next following the effective date of this article and every four years thereafter, the Town Clerk shall be elected for a term of four years.
This article shall supersede, in its application to the Town of Lewisboro, Town Law § 24 with respect to the term of office of the elective Town Clerk.
This article shall be submitted for approval to the electors of the Town of Lewisboro at an election held not less than 60 days after its adoption.[1]
