The Town of Mamakating hereby agrees to defend and indemnify its officers
and employees in any civil action or proceeding arising out of any alleged
act or omission which occurred or allegedly occurred while the officer or
employee was acting within the scope of his public employment or duties. Said
municipality is hereby empowered to purchase insurance for such purposes.
This chapter hereby incorporates by reference all provisions and conditions
as contained in § 18 of the Public Officers Law of the State of
New York. As said state law may be amended from time to time, said amendment
will constitute automatically an amendment applicable to this chapter.
