[HISTORY: Adopted by the Town Board of the Town of Mamakating as indicated in article histories. Amendments noted where applicable.]

There are hereby created two positions of Clerk, one for each of the town's two elected judicial officers.
A. 
The position of Clerk of the Town Justice shall be filled, one to be appointed by each of the two elected judicial officers.
B. 
The terms of office of each Clerk shall be until December 31, 1985, and thereafter the terms of office shall be for periods of two years.
The salary for the Clerk of each elected judicial officer shall be in such an amount as may be fixed by the Town Board upon the appointment of the persons to fill said positions and as may be appropriated by the Town Board for such an office.
The position of Clerk for the town's elective judicial officers shall be in the exempt class of civil service pursuant to the provisions of § 41 of the Civil Service Law of the State of New York.

There is hereby created one position of Deputy Clerk, one for the town's two elected judicial officers.
A. 
The position of Deputy Clerk for the Town Justice shall be filled, one to be appointed by the two elected judicial officers.
B. 
The term of office of the Deputy Clerk shall be until December 31, 1988, and thereafter the term of office shall be for a period of two years.
The salary for the Deputy Clerk for the two elected judicial officers shall be in such an amount as may be fixed by the Town Board upon the appointment of the person to fill said position and as may be appropriated by the Town Board for such an office.
The position of Deputy Clerk for the town's elective judicial officers shall be in the exempt class of civil service pursuant to the provisions of the Civil Service Law of the State of New York.
